What items should I collect? Returning to D2

[:1]Hi all,

The subject basically says it all. I'm new back to D2, I'm broke, and I'm wondering what I should start picking up off the ground to start building trading power.

It's August 25th, Diablo is in v1.13. Beyond the obvious uniques and +skill rares, what should I look for?

-Which "ideal" socket items (for example, 4os Monarch)? Which runewords are always desired, both high and low ends, leading me to wonder which socketable items I shouldn't pass over.

-PGems?

-Runes (all? some?)

Thanks for any advice.|||pgems, spirit runes + hels, rals, junk jewels will all trade well, and are a good way to get started trading when you are poor.

You mention socketables: (obviously add "superior" to any of these to make them more valuable)

4os or clean ethereal elite polearms (particularly CV since they can larzuk to 4 sockets) - infinity, insight

"e bugged" armors with 4 sockets trade well - that's where you take a clean ethereal armor and socket it with the horadric cube (can't be superior), not larzuk. - fortitude for merc, usually

4os matriarchal/GMB with +3 bow&xbow - harmony, faith, ice

clean or 5os berserker axe (and ethereal) - beast, death, doom

5os phase blade - grief

clean or 4os elite pally shields with high resists. 3os are okay too. - exile, sanctuary, sometimes phoenix.

superior 3os mage plates, superior 3 and 4os archon plates. - enigma in 3os, fortitude or chains of honor in 4os.

Even 4os and 5os regular old flails can have some trade value - heart of the oak, call to arms

socektable class items with the right set of skills on them also sell well. It would take a while to list them all but for example 4os staff with +3 energy shield (and especially with a second mod that is one of the ice armors) for memory are very valuable.

There's really too many possible good socketables to make a comprehensive list, but hopefully this gives you an idea. The above stuff can range in value from as little as a pul to as much as ber or even multiple high runes (generally the perfect roll superior stuff or the really good skill combination stuff).

The trade value forum has some price guides that are much more comprehensive, though they're also out of date. In any case they'll help you see what's valuable and what isn't.
