How long do certain items (specifically keys) stay on the ground?

So, my friend makes a game, and I'm muling a few things in it. I wanted to do some uber stuff with my other friend tonight, so I was collecting my spare keys from all around my mules. My main account has 8 characters and my secondary account has four mules. I didn't even look on all the main char. accounts, but I entered the game with most of my characters, dropped that character's keys (and other items to mule), then left. the entire process couldn't have taken more than five minutes or so. With one character left to look on, and about 7 tkeys and 1 hkey that were just on the ground, I get back into the game, and there are only two terror keys and one hate key. My friend didn't take them; I've known him in real life since we were young, and I trust him with things much more valuable than d2 items.

So why did my keys vanish after just a few minutes? I seem to recall something about the worth of the item determining how long it stays? Can you even sell keys? (I don't recall...) I checked my other characters again and didn't see the keys. Any thoughts? Can I not mule items from seven characters onto one character without pausing to pick them up each time?|||Uniques last the longest, white items the least.

Once I was in a game waiting for DClone and I killed a few monsters beside the Frigid Highlands WP. The next morning all the items they had dropped were still there, except for one that I had picked up and thrown back down. I picked up another one and threw it back down, and a while later when I went to check, it was gone. I repeated the experiment again, and I got the same result. I don't know if this had something to do with the fact that the items weren't in town or with a glitch, but those items survived for over 24 hours (there was a yellow one, a few blues, and a bunch of whites).|||As far as I know, keys are classed the same as white items. In other words, they don't last very long if left on the ground. Sets and Rares should last as long as uniques, but actual gold however, lasts ages :)|||from my own experience, keys last less than 10 min.||| Damn, guess I shoulda been more careful. Thanks for the info anyway...|||Im pretty sure they last less than 10 min. For organs at least.

A forum member helped me out with some pretty nice gear when I started. So I decided to repay him with my first organset collected. I dropped it on the ground, and we started chatting. About 5mins later they poofed. >_<|||My post from here: http://forums.diabloii.net/showthrea...ghlight=ground

I did 3 sets of tests and got the following results (for example, normal items disappeared after 10 minutes when left on the ground in town):

0:10 - in town: normal, ethereal, socketed, key of terror

0:20 - in town: magic, charms, runes, gems

0:30 - in town: unique, set, rare

0:40 - in town: gold

0:40 - out of town: key of terror

1:00 - out of town: normal, ethereal, socketed, gold

2:30 - out of town: magic, charms, runes, gems

3:00 - still hadn't disappeared out of town: unique, set, rare

The main conclusion is that you should leave items out of town, because they don't start disappearing until after an hour (except uber keys at 40 minutes).

Also, these were the minimum (and therefore safest) times. Occasionally something would stick around longer than the times above, such as gold hanging around until 1:20 in town. And I stopped at 3 hours. If it takes you longer than that to transfer, something is very wrong.|||Quote:

Sorry to bump this old thread, just want to correct sth. Maybe it is due to new patch or sth else. I only used magic and regular items to test in town and out of town time. They have the same time to disapear.

Both in town and out of town:

1. regular, 10 mins

2. magic item, 20 mins.|||hahaha, have to make a reply here, managed to get rid of AP enigma,hoto37,cta3/5/4,2 sojs, arach, shako perfect, eth CV insight and maras29. Made me laugh when i realised the items were gone but kinda frustrated over wasting that time and they are gone that fast. Didn't know items disappeared until now.

Well well only spent 4 weeks for the items
