could this be a good mld weapon :)?

i found this bad boy from hell mephy. it kinda surprised the hell outa me and i'm wondering wut u guys think about it.

|||I like Reaper's Toll more|||reaper's is lvl 75 tho, i'm talkin about mid lvl dueling|||An eth-oath two handed axe would do (lots) more damage and have similar requirements.

If a rare weapon isn't eth and self-repair, its very likely not very good.|||A L50 or lower merc won't meet its strength req, except you give him something with +40 str or so, like Griswold's armor with 2 pamethysts.

I like an ethereal Hone Sundan more.|||Quote:

Agreed. A Kelpie Snare is nice also...slooows things down a bit.|||Ethereal Oath weapons really took the fun out of finding that nice stylish rare weapon by being extremely difficult to top. When that runeword came out years ago, I figured most melee MLDers dropped their rare (or possibly magic) weapons in favor of the higher damage E-Oath to stay competitive. Rare elite weapons with just high ED and IAS bonuses were no longer adequate, and had to come with additional affixes (be it with self-repairing + ethereal and/or fools) to stand next to their E-Oath counterparts. Of course, every additional affix desired on a rare item makes it that much more difficult to obtain.|||Quote:

very well put. oath puts pressure on rare melee like harmony affects rare bows.|||To eleborate a little more on how that cute little rare compares to an Oath, a common two-hander is an eth Oath silver edged axe (and this is all relative as there are hardly many fury wolves at 49 running around to begin with).

Granted the silver edged doens't have a ton of range for a two-hander, 3 I think (Arreat Summit's now just displaying the range adder), that rare has the same range adder as a cv. The silver edge has it beat in terms of base speed [0] compared to [10] on the cv, as well as ias, 60 on an Oath with base 40 on the cv. You could shael it and maybe make use of it with a ton of strength gear: IK gloves and belt, Jalal's, Lionheart armor, maybe a rare ring with boatloads of strength. Ultimately you'll have to play around with TheDragoons wereform IAS/FHR calculator and see if it'd be worth speedwise.

Long story short, probably outclassed by an Oath in terms of speed and damage (comparable range), but it sure is stylish.|||Plus it's a failed Unique CV - it really tried to be something, this weapon :)
