[:1]I've been looking on the forum, but I can't really get a clear explanation.
I'm trying to find out which gems and runes are worth picking up, and how they are viewed in trading.
I just did forge, and I've been keeping all the gems/runes I've picked up, so I have a few, and I'm wanting to get better gear for my n00b sorc, so any input would be greatly appreciated.|||Keep all gems, as perfect gems sell quite well. The value is something like Pame>Prub>skull>other gems. A perfect amethyst can be worth up to twice as much as other gems.
As for runes, there are some good answers in this thread: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=808362
The answers there helped me at least.
Hope this answers your question.

*Kartongen|||@Kartongen: I think the op asked if basically flawed skulls are worth picking up.
Basically no. You should pick up flawless ones to upgrade them into perfects. 3xflawless=1 perfect. I wouldn't bother with normal ones, cause you basically need 9 to make a perfect gem. Which is basically the smallest amount you can trade with. So that means you would have most of your inv filled with crappy gems. Imo not worth picking up unless its flawless.
Also, always keep at least one flawless gem in your char inventory in case you go by a gem shrine.
As for runes.. I don't know about east economy but generally speaking anything below Pul is worth next to 0.
Exceptions are Thal Thul Ort Amn + Hel which can be sold as spirit packs, meaning you can sell them in groups like I mentioned.
Rals can also be traded in larger amounts for crafting purposes, also for repairs together with Orts ? If I remember right Rals are used for weapon repairs and Orts for armor. Maybe someone can clarify on this.
At ladder start Fal-Lem are also considerable. Other than those.. unless you need them for a RW let them be charsifood.
Anyways, you have to be patient to find a market for low runes, even if sold in packs.
