Pgems - what do i need them for?

Hey guys, ive been playing on/off since D2 came out, and recently returned after not playing for a few years - the game is still awesome!

anyway, atm i play singleplayer, and hoarding gems as usual, but to be honest i cannot remember what i am supposed to use them for. I know that i can use topaz for mf, but i was wondering what some good options for someone like me who mainly soloes and dont really trade at all is regarding gems.

What should i use my Pgems for, and are they even worth collecting when i dont trade?|||yes collect them! save them up for either crafting or rolling Diablo/nith/Baal Grand charms (hell versions of said baddies, ofc). these are the ones that can get up to 45 life and be a skiller. i am on SP now as well and i have run myself out of pgems enough that i was considering making a dedicated gem hunter... or starting to trade.

edit: this advice is given assuming you're using a muling program. if you're going with one pass, untwinked play, i'd keep a couple of everything and toss the rest, they take up too much room.|||I just wasted 200 PGems the other day on a Baal GC and ended up with nothing, so I say just toss them in SP.|||if you'd only had a few more though...|||That's like saying stop mfding when you don't find something in a couple runs.

I'd keep pames/rubies and use them for crafting. Maybe even skulls if you want to reroll rares|||Thanks for the advice guys. I got GoMule, since my inventory quickly started out of hand, so ill store them for now.

Do you guys use the gems for crafting those orange items? ive actually never done it, since i wasnt sure if the items where worth it.|||make amulets

6 Perfect Gems (1 of each type) + 1 Amulet (any quality) = Prismatic Amulet

it gives "All Resistancs +16-20" and has a chance at getting a suffix as well.|||Quote:

Crafting and rerolling is never worth it (i mean, worth the cost of materials), especially in SP. This is more like casino - you get fun and a little chance of epic win. Chance to craft 2sk/20fcr/15+dex/15+allres amulet (or something like this) is about 1 : 6 million.|||Quote:

this one, i dont like. i've used it before, but it just isnt worth it, nowadays you can easily find or gamble one very much like it. maybe if i was hurting, but i'd rather stick those gems in a shield and it'd cover your res better.

now that's just not true. if you're looking for said amulet, yes you're going to fail, but what about a 2sk/10fcr/some res? you get those frequently enough and they can be good.

also another thing with rolling gcs is that sure you'll probably never get a 1pcomb/45 life charm, but i have gotten many keepable charms, just recently i got a 13 res gc. not the greatest, sure, but i'm using the heck out of it.|||I have never gotten a grand charm from Diablo/nith/Baal, that's why I recommended the amulet

I have gotten grand charms in the throne of destruction, but they're always junk: +9% poison resistance or +3-5 fire damage

Its just always been easier to find amulets (or make them from rings) than it has been to find grand charms

so I like to make es all amulets on battlenet, then go to a normal mode game and give them away for free

"also another thing with rolling gcs is that sure you'll probably never get a 1pcomb/45 life charm, but i have gotten many keepable charms"

I've heard that you can reroll all hell difficulty grand charms for "keepable charms", maybe I should go gem hunting and start rerolling
