Lore Challenge

[:1]Hello Diablo World!

My question is pretty straight forward. The 'Dark Wanderer' made it through Lut Gholein before our hero clears the monastery in Act I. Approximately how much of a time gap do you think there was between Diablo coming to town and the hero arriving? Any answer, even a shot in the dark would be welcome.

Thanks so much!|||Not entirely sure, but according to Blizzard's official timeline it appears that everything took place within a year, from 1263 when Diablo destroyed Tristram until 1264 when he was defeated during the course of Diablo 2.

I'm not sure if anything more indepth has been noticed from a canon point of view. Perhaps someone else knows.|||As far as I know, it took about 3-6 months for the hero to become the Dark Wanderer and destroy Tristram, which is not an unreasonable time frame. (He stayed in Tristram for quite some time after he supposedly defeated Diablo.) The only real problem here is that we don't know the distances between the countries of Sanctuary. How many days do you actually spend travelling with Warriv's caravan to reach Lut Gholein? The day-night switch in the game itself can obviously not be factually correct if compared to the real world, nor does the default walk-run speed reflect the speed humans generally run-walk either. On top of that, add magic spells like town portals and teleport and travelling time becomes a very fuzzy issue.|||Hm, thank you, both of you for taking the time to think about and try and answer my question. I knew it'd be highly unlikely to get a fixed answer.|||Hehe just beginning to imagine that with a full FRW gear you could actually catch-up with Dark Wanderer and Marius before the Tomb of Tal Rasha That would be an epic fail/win?|||Hahaha That'd be too awesome for words!|||Quote:

I've always got the impression that we're quite close on their tail. We caught up with the wanderer briefly outside the docks in act 3 after all.

At the start of act 1 we're a few weeks after him, and I think we're maybe a few hours/half a day at the end of act 3.

Jerhyn used the term "recently" to describe when the wanderer passed through. My guess would be around 7-10 days, or something along those lines. More then "a few days" and less then "two weeks".|||Quote:

Good eye( or ear) On that one mate.

Also something I remember which may help your timeline, As soon as we reach act 3 we do see the dark follower where he sends some monsters to us.
