HoZ Upping

[:1]I have your generic Hammerdin (wanted a quick build for this season) and wanted to know more about upping my HoZ.

I don't really know about upping in general so could someone break down the benefits and deterrents to upping the HoZ.

Specifically, I would like to Up the HoZ and add in an Um. Is that possible? Thanks, guys!|||Upping ups the base item to the elite counterpart. In HoZ case it will cease to be a guilded shield and become a Zakarum shield.

It will keep all of it's generated stats EXCEPT base defense which will be rerolled within the new base items bounds.

Benefits:

More defense (For armors)

More damage (for weapons, and shields/boots for smite/kick)

Can add more boxes in belts

Downfalls:

Requires mid level runes

Requires higher str/dex/level to equip

Bonus can be negaible.

The forumale doesn't destroy anything socketed in the item or the fact it has sockets, so yes you can up and um it.

Tbh unless you're smiting with it upping Zaka doesn't tend to be worth it, and then most people only up ones with 190+ Edef.|||Quote:

You'd be going from a Gilded Shield which has 144-168 base def, 89 str req, and 52% base block to a Zakuram shield which has 169-193 base def, 142 str req, and the same 52% base block.

So basically all you're gaining is defense with more required strength. With treks and MP enigma, a decent torch and anni (considering no str elsewhere)... You'll have around ~130 str without actually investing any points in str, so you'd be giving up some HP to get 142 str to use it. With a HoZ, the only way to hit 125fcr is expensive rare gear.. so you can probably find enough strength there.

Personally I wouldn't up it unless it would not require extra strength investment and it's already a good base shield (high ed %).

You can socket it and add an um after upping it NP.|||Thanks for the advice. Looks like I will stick with what I have!
