Ladder reset and the impact on economy

[:1]Hello folks,

I was just wondering what impact an imminent ladder reset has on the economy. What items values rise and which drop? By how much? Which items are more or less stable, if there are any? Which should I sell off asap and which should I keep? I only ask because the economy seems to fluctuate a great amount. I read some threads written in 2004~2007 and in some of them I noticed that bers/jahs were about 3-5 ists depending on when it was written.

Also, the less common mid-high runes (gul, cham, etc.) start diping in price as people don't want to be left holding them when they go non-ladder where there are less viable runewords to use them on. Lo's become HIGH in demand as people roll griefs and forts. cheap uniques (shako's etc.) that are already glutted on non-ladder become almost throw aways as people make room for ladder only items. the sets to up items to the eleite counterpart also see a bump as people try to up commonly upped items like vipers, magefists, gores, etc.|||Quote:

Thanks for the info.... crap I threw away two 4 socket monarchs yesterday because I had no space >_<|||Just to beat the dead horse, 6 month reset sucks.

Yes, that added a great deal to the discussion =P|||I have to agree. I don't want the ladder to last 6 years either but 6 months feel a bit short. Perhaps a year or 9 months would be better.|||I'd have to disagree. The longer a ladder gets, the cheaper everything gets, and the more we're flooded with bots and highrunes. The point where your total wealth gets above 2 HRs total value, is the point where the game gets too easy (and thus boring) IMO. Especially so in soft.

Everyone and their grandmother can beat hell baal with a pimped out lightsorc or an enigma hammerdin and with a decently equipped smiter, UT isn't much of a challenge. It's the struggle of getting decent enough gear to actually get there, that's fun.

I so love early ladder trades - insanely high prices of Gull daggers, Harlequin Crests etc. And the "N Tal O Sigon's Shield" kinda trades. That to me is much more in the spirit of Dii than "ITeleBaal0017" or "O Gozu N HRs".

I guess the players enjoying the auction/trade aspect of a ladder will prefer long duration. Maybe also PvP'ers that haven't migrated to NL. Or HC players preferring to progress very slowly. But as a casual player enjoying the challenge of a fresh ladder, I say: "Blizzard bring the resets on!".|||After playing since 2000 or so, yes, the point to the game for me is essentially trading.

I've rolled so many characters that its nauseating. After beating the game once each new ladder, I would love to just auto-advance my others to 90 so I can play them and enjoy what's fun for me.

That said, I do not discount what's fun for you.

It is what it is and we're stuck with it. And trust me, 6 month thing does not diminish the botting in ANY way. In fact, I'm not sure it doesn't increase it. A lot of legit players have given up playing since the 6 month change.|||I can't wait for the reset. Only thing that sucks is having to do acts 2 and 3.|||Also keep in mind that if you dont intend to play on NL, and you dont want to hassle with NL-to-Ladder trades after the reset, its largely immaterial - just buy whatever you can to enjoy the rest of this ladder, sell what you're not going to use for whatever you can get for it, and have fun till reset :)

Maybe if you want to get ahead of the curve, trade for (now) trash-cheap starter stuff and roll a new char to practice your post-reset strategy, work all the kinks out so you're ready to go come reset day. A lot of times you get used to your endgame playstyle and it takes a bit to readjust to untwinked, Normal-mode gameplay.|||Quote:

Or stock up on SoJ's or stuff tradable for SoJ's so you can get a head start in anni hunting on the new ladder.
